Course Description

S-211 Also known as The Fire Environment for Firefighters and Dispatchers, is a classroom training session. This course deals with factors influencing fire behavior such as weather, topography and fuel types. Participants will learn how to use instruments to measure, monitor and predict weather. Also covered are the components of the Canadian Forest Fire Danger Rating System, and understanding the various indices such as Fire Weather Index, Build Up Index and Initial Spread Rate.
